Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Dades Valley - Erg Chebbi

We will from your Riad in Marrakech at 7:00AM and start travelling towards the Atlas mountains before reaching our first site, Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This Kasbah is perhaps the most impressive and well-preserved fortress cities in Morocco, which the Moroccan Government itself jumped on the bandwagon in 1994 to rehabilitate the Kasbah in order to preserve the cultural and national heritage. The Kasbahs were a major stop for camel caravans carrying salt through the Sahara and returning with gold, silver and slaves. We continue along the route, arriving at Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Saharan desert, the Moroccan city known for Hollywood movies being located and filmed here. Top Hollywood blockbusters which have been filmed in Ouarzazate include movie titles such as The Gladiator, The Mummy, Kingdom of Heaven, Game of Thrones, Prince of Persia and Lawrence of Arabia. We continue to make our way, experiencing the Draa Valley, en route to draa valley. Then to Merzouga, joining our camels and head off into the desert for a 1-2 hour camel trek to reach our Berber desert camp for the night. The camp provides private Berber bivouacs, under stars being so bright in the Desert. Overnight in the Nomad tent.

Day 2 : Erg Chebbi - Merzouga - Rissani - Agdez - Ouarzazate

After breakfast overlooking the beautiful sunrise, we will pass through villages making several stops showing the making of local artisan crafts. These include the making of marble from fossils which provides an authentic opportunity to see how Moroccans use their natural resources to make exquisite masterpieces. Next, we will pass through the Draa Valley which is home to one of the most beautiful and longest palm grove and river in Morocco. It is also said to known that the best dates come from this area. After this mouth dropping drive, we will arrive in Ouarzazate where we will take refuge for the night.

Day 3 : Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Tizi N'Tichka - Marrakech

Our day of adventure then moves onto Ouarzazate, where we’ll tour around this city and see the film studios. Ouarzazate is a much-loved location by film production, many of whom specifically come here because of the ancient buildings, golden landscapes and stunning scenery. One feels as though you have taken a trip back in time as you explore the ancient Kasbahs, golden clay buildings and don’t be surprised to see a Hollywood film crew shooting a movie here.
